The Skytavern Hockey Rink enjoyed the banner month of January with clear cold nights and cold to average daytime heat which has allowed us to keep the ice in great shape. I’m afraid all that is forecast to end very soon. Daniel Swain of weatherwest.com is forecasting a very warm mid-February with possible record breaking temps in the 70’s in Reno. This late in the season the sun is higher and those temps, if they come to pass, will be the demise of the rink. My advice, play as much as you can now as it may not last too much longer. As becomes readily apparent, we are looking at temps that may be as much as 12 degrees above average. At these temps, the rink cannot survive.
