Pictured here are Julia and Bonnie clearing the pond of up to 24″ of snow yesterday so the game could go on. Together with Kevin Morazas (AKA: The Human Excavator) and myself we managed to clear the rink and prep for the game in about 4.5 hours yesterday afternoon. Nate and I will go back today and attempt to blow the snow off the outside of the rink. If we don’t blow both the inside AND outside the weight of the snow pushes the ice down below water level and water pushes up and eventually actually swallows the boards so all snow much come off the pond. If anyone is feeling frisky and wants to help out today we should be there about 2:00 pm. Need to get the remaining snow off before the next storm hits tonight. We did have a great game with 4 on 4 with goalies for a couple hours last night and a good time was had by all! In addition I want to thank all the folks last night who stayed after the game and worked on crack repair to make the next game more crackless. As pond hockey players we know all too well and embrace the maxim: “crack kills.”
