The Saturday Night Hockey Extravaganza was a great one. We played straight for nearly three and a half hours with just one shoveling for a water break and the ice stayed perfect… smooth, no cracks, no pits just lots of competitive hockey on the pond. With all ages out there enjoying themselves and folks playing well with one another while the bonfire roared and the dogs and brats sizzled put a smile on my face that is still evident. The reason I built the pond and the rink was for nights just like this…
I want to thank everyone who came up this week to really fill out the roster and put skates on the ice. It was the best “last week” we have ever had.
And just who tied up the game at 14 goals apiece… our little skater Amanda seen below proudly holding the game puck she put into the net… what a way to end the season!
Sadly though I could tell from the weather forecast that Saturday would be our last chance to play. By Sunday at noon the ice was pretty much history with major melting and rotting going on which continued today and will most of this week.
Again, KUDO’s to everyone that came up and reminded me that Skytavern Hockey is a uniquely valuable part of the the Reno-Tahoe-Truckee scene. Stay tuned for play-off and Skytavern Jersey info which I will post sometime this week!
