The first clearing of the season is often a problem mixing water with snow and thin ice is enough to stress out anyone. Didn’t want our new blower sinking into Davey Jones locker so had to do a lot of hand work. Should be much easier once we get cold weather! In any event this is not a one man job so we need a crew that can come up occasionally. Once we get a pool of people it will only take a few of you each time but need to put that list together. Please email me at: www.skytavernhockey.com so that you can be a good samaritan once in a while! Too much for one guy so if we want community hockey it will take a community to keep it clear.
First we furrow the snow then run the blower through those and then hand shovel if its wet and the snow has soaked it up. This is largely a problem of too much weight on the ice or the ice is too thin or both (like this morning). It was certainly both this morning and was super hard to move. But… if we don’t and it freezes in, its all over. No skating on that stuff!
Hoping we can get a dozen signed up with contact names and numbers so we can keep the pond clear for some great hockey this winter. I cannot do it without help.
